They are experimenting now with cars that are painted in a solar panel paint, and I think this will be the wave of the future. /news/2005/01/0114_050114_solarplastic.html

ə natural gas. still a fossil fuel, but a cleaner one, and requiring less work to produce. ə

this will be our country's "natural choice" ... we have tons of the stuff, american-owned suppliers; NOT a difficult conversion from pig-oil energy fueled cars.

I believe it will be other. Solar panels are becomming more and more popular and they are updating the quality contantly. It will on be a matter of time that the roof of a car will be a solar panel.

Serious problem with natural gas: the way they get it. They get it by "fracking" or fracturing. That is pumping chemicals or seawater into strata deep underground which is causing earthquakes and destroying water tables. Anyone who is concerned their home won't collapse into a 30 foot sink hole should be concerned. Anyone who farms or gets their water from the ground or knows that when the water stops getting pumped in and filtered and we'll have to get our water from the ground again should be nervous. Anyone in even a mild earthquake zone with nuclear power plants should be scared out of their wits. Natural gas is a no go as long as it is obtained via fracturing.
How will they think of destroying our air, land, sea, food, water and country next? Enough is enough already.

If we're smart it'll be natural gas , the perfect "bridge" fuel. 90% cleaner than gasoline and naturally abundant right here in North America it can solve several current problems quickly and get us through to the next technological breakthroughs that can really power our future.

SammyAdams, what ARE you talking about? On second thought...it sounds like you're propounding some kind of conspiracy theory which would be better taken to a forum that deals with that sort of thing.
Related to the current topic, gasoline will probably still be the primary source of powering cars, but this was asking what other would likely be most common., something that many have offered opinions on. As to freedom...for the purposes of this forum, I'd sure like to have freedom from the clutches of Big Oil, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

If we are smart enough to ignore the propaganda and elect a Constitutional Congress, we can then (and only then) begin the arduous task of throwing off the shackles of "big brother" and rebuild the concepts of FREEDOM that our founders gave to US.
Then there might be a chance that the private use of automobiles will remain. At that point, the use of fossil fuels will probably still be the dominate fuel ten years from now.

That's a very optimistic outlook that presupposes that the individual will still have private ownership of automobiles.

Yesterday around 9:35am I asked 125MPDay for more info on the "TRUE FUEL CELL" he mentioned in his earlier post. Sorry he hasn't responded, because it raised more questions than answers when I googled it. Hope he's still paying attention to this forum. It would be super if it worked...just not clear how it could.

Immediately it will be NAT. Gas for Big Trucks. Technology for this has been here since the 1960's, used it in farm pickups/trucks and tractors. Go to Better Place.com and see how Denmark, Israel, and Australia have used the electric battery switchout in 1 minute technology. New York City is/will be very soon using this tech for their Metro Buses. It is my understanding that you lease the battery and buy the car. Car cost is way under gas cars of today. While you are leasing the battery you would stop into a service center, much like the old full service gas stations. Hop on a lift and drive away in a minute. Where do they make the batteries, Michigan of course.. Why hasn't it started already? Power Grid needs to be rebuilt or Brand New one put in its place. Jobs! Obstacle, Big Oil and their lobbyists and the gas car industry and their lobbyists. Maybe things will change with a new congress? Then maybe again elephants will fly. Self-interest and greed rules in the market place. Unless WE change.
