The problem is that so many people depend on the government to take care of them instead of doing what they can to find ways to take care of them selves. America is a land of big opportunity and we must stop complaining and start doing

This is what happens when "only government can solve the problem". Problems are politicized and people do not make good decisions based on fact but political rhetoric and free stuff. Are we as a country moving towards a new "Declaration of DEPENDENCE"?

This makes as much sense as paying able bodied people to sit at home watching govt. purchased tv's and talking on govt. paid cell phones until they get in their govt. purchased cars and drive to the grocery to buy govt. paid-for food. ONLY IN AMERICA!

So childish, the savings at the pump should be enough incentive, not to mention the cost of speeding tickets

Do we really need to bribe people to do the speed limit? Having the little economy gauge in my dash is enough for me.

Whatever!
Normal would be...
- Understand what the passing lane is for and not ride it at turtle speed thinking you're the only car on the road, while holding back traffic.
- Get off the cell phone! A quick call, okay... beyond that, get to a shrink because, you have bigger issues. Perhaps gets a "blankie" to comfort you instead and not tick off every other driver on the road.
- A car is riding your behind, let them pass so, move over to the right.
- You have to realize that one of the biggest reasons that there are speed limits is because big brother realizes that they must post something so that the not so bright crayons can't drive any faster and be more dangerous even though they realize that they don't belong on the road. There should be required 50 hours+ hands on (local and highway) driving paid by each person who wants to have a license! Also, it'd help if you start everyone with a Ford Escort/Smart car and move their way up to bigger vehicles based on driving years, retests and experience.Message Posted: Jun 29, 2012 8:00:47 PM Ignore jaba1230 Report Abuse

I MIGHT consider slowing down for pay, but fundamentally it would be wrong if that is taxpayer money, besides, most of those "STUDIES" were an even Bigger Waste of taxpayer money, most of the rulings from the NHTSA are a waste in general, more policy politics than anything about safety...

This is biased in that everyone involved knew they were being studied ... ie the Hawthorne effect ... Also this appears to only be a week long study ... A bigger study would be needed before researchers could claim succes on such a study...

Eh I heard this on NPR last week, they also mentioned the difference between what the insurance companies are doing vs this test. The insurance companies that give you a rate reduction for putting a machine in your car doesn't give you immediate feed back and you have no idea what the metrics are since you do not see the information.

Let's pay people to stop robbing banks, killing people and all sorts of criminal activity. Pay kids to go to school and stop doing drugs and drinking, right?

Driving a motorized vehicle on any public property (We The People) is a privilege – not a right; check the constitution. The rectangle highway traffic control signs along or above the nation’s highways and byways that are with white background and black letting are NOT suggested speed limits—they are REGULATORY and punitive. NOTE: Citizens Arrest is a valid law and those with vehicle cams…can take violators to court and win the case to include legal fees. The rectangles with a yellow background with black letting are HIGHLY SUGGESTED MAXIMUM Speed limits due to situation safety---NOT punitive. The insurance companies, (a private company) as a stock-holder influenced organization have the right idea-track your speed and vehicle use to formulate your monthly insurance premium. Conversely, State governments using this “safe-pay” is in “We The People’s Business” although ---again, driving is a privilege in their State and they can reward and punish drivers as they see fit. Be safe out there; wear your seat belt, don’t drink and drive, and don’t text and drive…I don’t want to meet you in those examples.
