I'm thinking about buying a Nintendo DS for my 7Yr. old son. He already owns X-Box,Gamecube,Playstation2 and Gameboy Advance SP. Is the DS a good system?

I gave my wife one for Christmas, she is having fun with it, and I have tried it as well. It is a nice size to hold, and the picture is surprisingly good, even to my 61 year old eyes (and I don't wear glasses!).

yes i believe its worth it. I originally has a psp which i loved but there was no games out for it.. ds has a bigger range of games..

I can't wait till Mega Man Star Force 2 comes out in a month.. I bought the ds lite version and its great.. long battery life, and when it gets down to 5 minutes of battery a red lite kicks on saying charge me or lose your game. I have it last like 8 hrs or so.

I have 2 boys ages 3 and 4 and they both love it. The system has many games for children their age.

My son loves his DS.
The DS can even play GameBoy Advance cartridges (so his old games won't go to waste).

I did a lot of research and personally think the DS is the best value for the money (currently about $129) and has a LOT of games. Of course this is as it applies to a child. A PSP would probably be a better fit for a teenager who's a little more tech savvy than a younger kid.

I also love the fact that it is rechargeable - my daughter is younger and has a Leapster and the thing EATS batteries for breakfast...

For about $20 you can buy a kit that includes a decent case to protect the unit in transit and a pair of DS headphones, a car charger, and extra stylus'.

Yeah, it's a good system for that young in age. He'll have fun with a lot of games that's available for the system.

I would highly recommend the nintendo ds lite for your son! and I agree you should get either Brain Age or Big Brain academy, probably big brain academy i think it's more decorated for his age group. Other good games for him would be probably Mario Kart DS, Spectrobes, Animal Crossing: Wild Worl I think would be good! You can download these games and many other games to the DS if you have the right stuff. you'd need a flash cart for the ds,i would recommend the R4DS and you could get a good price for it as well as a bundle of stuff that you need with it atmodchipstore.com. And you can play all kinds of gameboy games except for the first gameboy games form the original gameboy, only downfall though sorry. Personally I would invest in something like the R4DS before you buy any games for the DS because You can download any of the games that are outfor it from the internet and save it to the R4 and you save money. I think you get a bundle on the R4 for about $90 shipped. and that's a great deal for the bundle. You won't have to buy a game for the ds again lol. =^_^=

I'm getting the DS Lite and PS2 as soon as they are under $100. Games I plan to get for the DS are:

New Super Mario Bros.
Yoshi's Island DS
Metroid Hunters

...Hmm...I can't think of anymore...

I bought it for my Brother-In-Law. He loves games. I saw it on channel 5 news. They were playing a game called Brain Age. Great game.

Yes the DS is a great system if you like Nintendo games. You can play your game boy advance, gameboy color and regular gameboy games on it. You can download games on it also. I would recommend it to anyone.
